Overview

If your job entails you working in an emotionally difficult role, whereby you are regularly exposed to the trauma, victims or violence of others, this can be very challenging and although you may not be directly involved, the repeated and prolonged exposure may cause a negative emotional reaction and a change in your world-view or you may become cynical or fearful.

These work-related reactions can occur from experiences such as listening to individual testimonies recounting their victimisation, looking at videos of exploitation, reviewing case files, hearing about the aftermath of violence resulting in injury or death, and other traumatic events.

This workshop is designed to help participants mitigate the risks particularly of suffering from ‘vicarious trauma’ by understanding what the risk is, how to recognise it within yourself, how to safeguard yourself and by teaching some of the techniques that you can employ in your daily work routine.
