Introduction to the Team Leader Role

Duration 2 days

Team leaders are the purest leaders in management. Often without any official hierarchy or authority they are responsible for delegating project tasks, assigning roles and achieving objectives. Even more important, as first among equals, they set the attitude and tone of a team, truly leading as much by example as any role in the company.

This course has been designed to help those in team leadership positions to enjoy and embrace the challenges of their role. Delegates will learn different leadership styles, and the situations appropriate to each, including delegation, coaching and building a consensus. Understanding the dynamics of successful teams and how to motivate team members is stressed.

Problem solving and decision making will be taught in the context of direct and indirect teams. Real situations from the delegates will be used to ensure application in the workplace is successful.

Team leaders biggest tool is their communication skills. Skills and tools to communicate effectively with senior managers, clients and the project team will be introduced and practised in real scenarios.

This course can be taught in 4 half days, 1 every two weeks or 2 full days, 1 day per month. A group of Team Leaders who take the training together will develop strong interpersonal dynamics that carry back to the workplace and strengthen their role across the organisation.
